I'm Holding My Sock

When my son was a teenager it was always a problem to get him to the breakfast table. After I would wake him, he would dress and then just sit on the side of his bed holding one sock and staring into space. It took repeated reminders to get him into the breakfast room. After weeks of this I finally ask,"Steve what are you thinking or looking at or why do you just sit there with one sock in your hand?" He replied,"I am trying to figure out what day it is so I can know what I am supposed to do."  So we developed the routine of saying,"Get up, Steve.  It is Wednesday or whatever it was."   It worked!

Today I felt as if I were holding my sock. After my shower and shampoo last night I had rolled my hair and slept in the curlers. When I work up this morning it was after 9:00 so I hurried. I dressed in clean clothes, styled my hair and put on lipstick. I rushed to make coffee and eat my breakfast as I didn't want to be late for church.

For the last several months I have been attending "TV church."  I have found a broadcast that comes on at 10:30 from Little Rock. I like the music and the preacher brings sermons that have real meaning for me.  Just because I sit in my TV room to attend church does not mean that I have lost any respect for the worship of God.  I sit quietly, I am dressed modestly, and I wait with an open heart.

This morning I turned on the TV at 10:25 and there was an automobile commercial running.  I waited patiently. At 10:35 the auto commercial was still running. I checked that I was on the correct channel. I went to the program guide to see if it had moved to another channel. I couldn't find it. This program is on every Sunday.  I finally went to the local cable station and there running across the bottom of the screen it read, "Today is Saturday, June 13, 2015."
